Pakistan Journalists Foundation (PJF) is a platform to promote Freedom of the Press besides playing the role of a think tank. It believes in advocacy for dialogue between the media organizations and the government to protect the rights of journalists and press freedom in general. Also, it aims at harmonizing the country’s journalism as well as the journalists with the changing trends of the profession. PJF has set a goal to make available resources for the growth of print, electronic and social media in the field of journalism. It also organizes training courses, workshops, seminars, lectures, and conferences, etc., for the journalist community without prejudice.
Media is the fourth pillar of the state and plays a vital role in opinion-making. No society can ignore the importance of its role. It is a double-edged sword, therefore, PJF streamlines the task of public opinion in line with the national interest through various means from time to time. It also endeavours to introduce international journalistic norms to the domestic press and promotes the positive image of Pakistan the world over. It has no personal liking and disliking in exercising its duties as a responsible platform to promote training and skill development, which is pivotal to ensure the protection of journalism and employment with respect and dignity. PJF is entering into contracts with all the registered journalistic organizations to meet its objectives of helping out the most deserving media persons and support them in their professional life.
Besides, PJF has also planned to hold an annual international media conference on a regular basis to bring harmony to national and international issues through discussion and debate besides conferring awards to distinctive professionals for their work in various fields of journalism. Selection for the nominations would be purely on merit, supervised by a committee of independent journalists.
